Tests were performed for properties of fresh and hardened concrete at different ages such as 7 and 28 days.

From the investigation, it was noted that the workability of the mix was reduced against the increase in percentage of E-plastic. The compressive strength, split tensile strength, flexural strength of partially replaced concrete was comparatively less than that of the control concrete. The effect of adding the E-plastic in concrete reduced the dry density of the concrete and showed the high deformability behavior before failure.

The lesser dry density may be having advantage in self-weight reduction in structural elements which leads to lesser attraction of pseudo inertia forces in the seismic prone area.

Civil Engineering , Concrete , E-waste , Electronic waste , E-plastic , and 2 more E-waste in concrete and E-plastic in concrete E-waste in concrete and E-plastic in concrete. View on link. Electronic plastic waste from outdated computers and their accessories have been on an exponential growth in recent decades. In light of using such a nondegradable, hazardous waste effectively, this study was carried out using the In light of using such a nondegradable, hazardous waste effectively, this study was carried out using the recycled computer plastic waste as coarse aggregate in concrete.

The computer plastic waste was collected and made into chips, which predominantly have high impact polystyrene HIPS. A total of concrete specimens were cast to investigate the effect of HIPS and water— cement ratio on the fresh and hardened properties of concrete. The concrete specimens were tested under compression, tension, and flexure on the 7th and 28th day. The engineering properties such as workability, compressive strength, flexural strength, split tensile strength, and elastic modulus of concrete were obtained experimentally and were compared with the control concrete.

Because the reduction in strength was observed, this type of concrete can be used in non-structural elements such as partition walls and lightweight roofs.

The addition of HIPS aggregate in concrete reduces the unit weight of concrete; it can be used in earthquake-prone areas where the reduction in mass is essential. Hence, the effective use of HIPS as a coarse aggregate substitute in concrete is one of the feasible solutions for the solid waste management problem and thereby reduces environmental pollution and conserves the natural resources from depletion.

The fresh and hardened properties of concrete with E-waste plastic, that is, high impact polystyrene HIPS , as a partial replacement for coarse aggregate were analyzed using response surface methodology RSM. Face-centred central Face-centred central composite response surface design was used in this study. The statistical models were developed between the factors HIPS and water cement ratio and their response variables slump, fresh density, dry density, compressive strength, spilt tensile strength, and flexural strength.

The Design-Expert 9. The relationships were established and final mathematical models in terms of coded factors from predicted responses were developed.

The effects of factors on properties for all variables were seen visually from the response surface and contour plot. The HIPS replacement influenced all the properties of concrete than water cement ratio.

Even though all properties show the decline trend, the experimented values and predicted values give a hope that the E-waste plastic HIPS can be used as coarse aggregate up to certain percentage of replacement in concrete which successively reduces the hazardous solid waste problem and conserves the natural resources from exhaustion.

Performance of concrete with PVC fibres more.

In recent years, few studies have been done on the use of PVC fibres in concrete mixes. The performance of concrete with PVC fibres in the fresh and hardened state will be presented in this chapter. It is suggested that the use of PVC fibres either 0. Limitations and practical issues on the utilization of PVC fibres in concrete mixes are identified.

Machining can be defined as the process of removing material from a workpiece in the form of chips.
