Analog Design Essentials (The Springer International Series in Engineering and Computer Science) Hardcover – 15 Mar by Willy M Sansen (Author).

ISBN 13: 9780387257464

This book is good as a supplement, a reference, an introductory text or simply revising material for an advanced material. Of course the lack of literature in some instances or detailed formulae for that matter, may leave a reader disappointed at times, but don't let turn you off for you can find those in any standard textbook.

The CD files, unlike observed by another reader, can actually be copied to your hard disk. But they take lot of space, each is the size of a CD. This is for a reason. The CD is nothing but a sort of e-book given free, and I hope someone who is reading this book understands respecting IP as such.

Copying a chapter or two for personal or academic use certainly falls under fair copyright use so that shouldn't be a problem either. The large file-size is probably meant to prevent that. All-in-all this is a great book and a must have on any serious analog designer's table.

Search the world's largest collection of optics and photonics applied research.

Ask your school or company library to download it if you can't but do try it any which way. In most cases it will be an investment well made. This book is weird in that it is not like a text book. Each slide has an explanation. THere, that's the whole book. Can you learn like this??? They don't know how to get to the point or rather withhold information from the reader and let reader reinvent the wheel not good for undergrad.

This book is awesome!! It gives you all the main concept summaries you are supposed to know! No derivations! It is an excellent summary of all the essential concepts, it can get quite advanced.

Analog Design Essentials

It is book for design oriented people. It can be regarded as unfinished or it can be polished off! Main idea here is the whole book is like: Here is a slide, here is an explanation for the slide..

Final statement is: This book is a summary of all the important and most essential points in analog design. The cd has all the slides. This is a new teaching method! Almost like you are in class!

Hey the author is a european, their teaching styles are completely different. You may actually learn something at their universities!!!

Analog Design Essentials (The Springer International Series in Engineering and Computer Science)

It contains presentation slides and side-by-side the author's comments on those slides. This forms an excellent flow especially if the reader wishes to read the book quickly. All start with elementary material.

Most chapters also contain advanced material, especially from Chapter 9 onwards. A new format is used for this book.

This has the advantages that the material used for teaching is also the material used by the student, and that only one additional aspect is explained per slide. The student can thus easily monitor their progress in understanding.

It is hoped that this new format provides a better structure in both teaching and studying these essential topics in analog design. The name Analog Design Essentials is wrong for this book!.

It is a collection of slides most probably from a course the author teaches with short paragraphs which explain the slides. The selection of topics is very good but random equations are thrown in without any explanation whatsoever.

You will have to revert to another book to try to understand some of the things the author is talking about. Practising analog design engineers might find this book interesting.

I bought this book because I have high respect for the author.

I've read many papers authored by him and a previous analog design book where he was the co-author which, in my opinion is one of the best books on analog design sadly not in print anymore! Reviewer Chan's comments on the CD are accurate. Some figures indeed have illegible labels, being a worst case. One reason to take the trouble to load into Acrobat is its search feature that allows you to look for all references to "gain boost" for example. That is helpful mostly because the index, table of contents, and cross referencing of this book are really, really poor.

Also, references to sources, like Hosticka, Sackinger found on p.

You can't go wrong. This is a great book, no doubt about that. Although it has an unconventional approach for a book--slides etc.

And that's what that matters. The author himself is an authority on the subject and one can realize the genuine desire-- matched by his efforts--he has, to get the topics to his readers.
